O (Aluminum) Christmas Tree

In case you've ever wanted some behind the scenes details about Dad's Super 8 Theater, I'll let you in on a couple secrets. First, the videos are edited way, way in advance. In fact, they have all been edited for several weeks as of this writing. The writings are done some time later, but still far in advance of being posted. Example, the date of this writing is Thursday, October 27th, 2011. The video in question here was edited exactly one month ago. I bring this up because I don't recall ever taking crack in my life, but I must have been on crack a month ago. I put Christmas music into this video when the events are actually filmed around Thanksgiving time. I am guessing Thanksgiving of 1974. It was the last year my Grandpa Miller would have Thanksgiving with us. (Meaning, of course, that he passed away a few months later, not that he went out and found another family he liked better to have holidays with). It all begins with mom carving the turkey. This should have been a hint to my younger self that this is a film about Thanksgiving, not Christmas. We very rarely had turkey on Christmas. Ham was more a Christmas meal, not turkey. My grandparents are sitting so proper and nice at the table, looking reverent and thankful for the camera and there I am waving. I can't keep that damned hand still. In my defense, though, it is a MOVIE! Who wants to watch a film of people sitting and doing nothing? Besides you, that is. My brother and I sure are chewing that turkey. Mom is a ...
